Ubuntu - New LTS version is a'coming
Been "driving" Ubuntu now for about two weeks, and I'm just loving it. I did set up a dualboot as I am but a noob. I need to have the MS installation intact for just a little while longer so that I can transfer files from it onto the Ubuntu partition.
But it seems as if I'm going to be a ubuntu'ist for all future now, atleast comparing to MS - There is just no going back, plain and simple. Might not stick to Ubuntu, that's not a lifetime commitment, but as I have started with Ubuntu chances are I will hold on to that.
Things that are totally different and "scares" me the most is the filesystem, not really what i'm used to, hehe... Terminal, nah, not scary, just hard to comprehend in the beginning, but I'm beginning to sence logic in there somewhere.
When next LTS version is released... I think I'm going all Linux. No more money to Mr Gates & CO, he's got enough if you ask me.
Free is GOOD, Linux is great, Linus should be king of Finland.

hey Pat, if you like Ubuntu, give LinuxMint a try. A more elegant presentation of what Ubuntu could be and most codecs and hardware supported out of the box (DVD version). If you need the CD install, then installing codecs is easy with software manager in the custom menu.
enjoy the world of Linux my friend.

Hi, rjs...
Actually, I will do just that... Read about it a bit just now, and it seems nice. Have an old laptop which isn't doing much good at all, so I will install LinuxMint Main and have a go at it...
I might add for others; there is a really nice forum and really nice people residing in it over at: http://forums.linuxmint.com/index.php - Well worth a visit if anyone else is curious as to what this LinuxMint is...
